Etched in the Pines isn’t just creating custom pieces for my own clients — I also work behind the scenes with other print shops and makers in our area.

When I first started this little business I never imagined how far it would go. One project turned into ten, ten turned into a hundred, and now we’re at the point where I wanted to bring more variety to be able to be a one stop shop for everything you need.

We’re officially expanding so we can customize more things, in more ways, for more people. Between laser engraving, embroidery, vinyl/screen print, and now UV printing, we’re covering everything from rustic wood signs to full color phone cases, hockey pucks for all you MN people, and team gear.

It's been chaotic, but I'm finally sharing some recent projects, starting with these egg baskets. I was tired of my old trays that only held 24 eggs - no idea when I got them! Moved the wood pile and got so excited by all the potential projects I will be making. Don’t mind me but if I’m out and about and see wood, rocks or anything I will bring it home to create something out of it!

Sometimes when I am in between projects I throw together these wood Tik Tac Toe game or any game boards. These sell fast at craft fairs and are a good seller at the stores! These make fun table games for Resorts, lodges and restaurants!

My first board spotted in the wild! 🪵

One of the perks of being a woodworker? I get to keep the “perfectly imperfect” ones for myself 😅 This board didn’t make the cut for a customer—but it quickly became my go-to for every camping trip we’ve taken this summer.

It’s scratched, seasoned, and full of stories (kind of like me by the end of each trip). Proud of how it’s holding up and even prouder of how far Etched in the Pines has come.

Creating something with your own two hands that you get to use and abuse in the wild is a whole different kind of satisfaction.

BACK AT IT (with most of my thumb intact) 👍

After being strongly encouraged by pain and bandages to take a break from woodworking so my thumb could regenerate itself… I finally dusted off the goggles and got back to it tonight.

An hour of planing, sanding, and some satisfying router work later—and I’m feeling pretty dang proud of this piece. It’s not finished yet, but I was too excited to keep it to myself. Sometimes you just gotta get back on the horse... or at least the saw horses. 🐎🔨

Things have been a little quiet on here, but behind the scenes it’s been full steam ahead. I’ve been teaming up with some awesome local businesses and prepping for a few upcoming shows.

I have the tendency to see something and instantly be like I can make that... challenge accepted. I have been seeing these epoxy pieces for awhile now they charcuterie boards, tables, head boards and counter tops and every time I love the idea of color and wood mixed for pieces so I figured I would give it a go and see how hard they are, let me tell you I love challenges and this was a learning experience every step of the way. (So don’t look to close) but like they say you get better with practice so a year from now I will look at this crappie board and laugh at how much I approved and to me that’s fun because you have to start somewhere.

Have I mentioned that other than graphic design I am doing for a few places and helping out part time at a embroidery shop this adventure is now my full time job so you will see me posting more and more creations as I start to ramp up my inventory for my first woodworking show coming up in July!

A little video showing how I turned scrap wood from the wood mill by our house into beer tap handles for a local brewing company!

You might have been seeing me posting about working on these but Dj delivered the big order of Beer Tap Handles a couple weeks ago and I have been so excited to post about them.

This project was a thrilling challenge that pushed me beyond my comfort zone and ignited my passion for wood and grains.
They wanted live edge beer tap handles but needed a flexible solution to accommodate their frequently changing beer selection, so we devised these live edge handles with a magnetized inlay cut out for interchangeable magnetic name plates!
I also included a custom metal frame to store their extra name plates. Such a learning experience and so fun! I hope they adore them - I’m waiting on my husband to take me on a date to go see them hung up in person and enjoy one of the fun beer flavors! (Hint hint DJ)

The best part of my job? When people bring me their brilliant ideas! Elena @ Midwest Mindset’s ideas are always a blast! She wanted me to make her store front’s wall more her style, so I cut out over 130 trees to create a fun accent wall. If you’re in Bemidji, go check it out at her new location and let her know you love it!

Went to the lumberyard to get some new wood last night. Keg taps, charcuterie boards and wood signs coming up!

I got asked to donate an auction item for a Deer Hunters Association banquet so I figured this design was absolutely perfect for it! Perfect for any Hunter!

Through a collaborative effort with a local bar, I was able to bring custom live edge beer taps with interchangeable front name plates to life, a project that allowed me to explore new creative avenues. Acquiring live edge wood from a local lumber mill scrap pile just down the road from our house, I focused on crafting a distinctive piece that would complement the bar’s atmosphere. The final result was well received. Now I am creating 15 more of them for that bar, and I am excited to visit the bar, enjoy a beer, and see my work showcased on the tap wall when it’s all said and done.

I am thrilled to announce that I am rebranding from Backwoods Designs to Etched in the Pines. When I first launched my business, my primary focus was on what I knew T-shirt design and screen printing. However, over the past year, I have discovered a new passion for woodworking and creating items from natural materials. As a result, I am excited to introduce a range of custom wood products, including charcuterie boards, river tables, 3D wood decor, custom signs, and other items that reflect my passion for nature.

In addition to my existing services, which include graphic design, paper design, T-shirt design, tumblers, leather and leatherette patches and product and embroidery, I am eager to explore the full range of possibilities offered by my engraver and my passion for nature.

The past year has been a transformative period for me, marked by significant growth and learning. I am grateful for the support I have received, which has given me the confidence to continue innovating and expanding my business in the years to come. One of my favorite hobbies is crafting 3D lake contour maps. I have a passion for fishing and exploring underwater structures, and making these maps allows me to express that interest. They also transform cherished lakes into unique pieces of home decor.

Christmas order… This one was new for me and I loved the challenge. She wanted a place for her son to hang his track medals so I created this shelf that has a spot to hang the medals off the bottom and a shelf on top to put some trophies! 🏆 🥇 triple layer so it can hold some weight and coated it so it looks like metal! Definitely a fun one to create!

Another Christmas Order…. Do you have an old family recipe that merits more than a piece of paper? One of my favorite things is listening to the stories behind a recipe and the memories surrounding it, then creating a custom item to preserve that recipe and that persons handwriting forever.

Who is ready to see some of the creations I made for Christmas gifts? For the next few weeks I will be highlighting some of my creations that I had an amazing time creating for all of you as gifts! We will start them off with these two custom made multi layered pheasants. I loved the challenge of making this one.

Loon 3D wood piece of art. I had a few days this week so I threw together this loon art. This is one of my favorite pieces not only because I love the wood I chose but also because I have yet to go to a lake around here where I haven’t seen a loon and they are quickly becoming one of my favorite birds.
